- The Courier V.32 modem uses state-of-the-art modem chip
- technology to bring a cost-effective, easy-to-use data
- communications solution to users requiring true full-duplex or
- international standard operation.
- In addition to CCITT V.32 capability, the Courier V.32 provides
- full CCITT and Bell standards compatibility at 2400, 1200 and 300
- bps, with industry-standard MNP Class 1 through 5 error control
- and data compression, increasing error-free throughput up to 80
- percent.
- Courier V.32 is designed for applications requiring true full-
- duplex and/or synchronous transmission at high speeds. These
- applications include host-to-host or micro-to-mainframe
- communication, remote LAN bridging, dedicated leased line
- service, leased line dial backup and situations requiring high-
- speed international standards compatibility.
- The Courier V.32 provides asynchronous or synchronous
- transmission on dial-up or two-wireleased lines. Its synchronous
- capability is available at all speeds except 300 bps.
- While most synchronous modems offer no auto-dialing
- capability, the Courier V.32 modem provides a synchronous auto-
- dialing capability, in which the modem automatically dials a phone
- number stored in nonvolatile
- RAM, then establishes a synchronous data link.
- For asynchronous operations, Courier V.32 uses the industry-
- standard "AT" auto-dialing command set for compatibility with
- all micro-computer data communications software.
- The Courier V.32 fully conforms to CCITT's V.32 data-
- signalling specifications. It simultaneously operates high-speed
- "send" and "receive" frequencies using trellis-coded modulation
- and echo-cancelling. These advanced technologies keep Courier
- V.32 online and error-free under even the harshest telephone
- network conditions.
- U.S. Robotics offers the Courier V.32 modem in external and
- rackmounted models. The rackmounted version is designed for use
- in U.S. Robotics Rackmount 30 Modular Modem System, which
- includes a 19-inch-wide chassis housing up to 15 modem and
- interface boards along with two 140-watt power supplies.
- The Courier V.32 carries USR’s standard two-year parts and
- service warranty, extendable for $20.50 per year.

- A WORD ABOUT U.S. ROBOTICS
-
- When you purchase a modem, you buy more than data
- communications hardware. When you purchase a modem, you buy a
- relationship with an organization. To help in your evaluation, I
- would like to introduce us to you.
- We are U.S. Robotics. We are more than 175 people dedicated
- to designing, manufacturing and providing quality products,
- services and systems to enhance the capabilities of business and
- professional customers worldwide. Our mission is to strive to be
- "the best data communications company."
- Since our start in 1976, we have sold more than one million
- modems, and led the industry with many technological firsts. For
- example, we built the first modem using off-the-shelf
- microprocessor technology (1982), and the first surface-mount-
- technology modem (1987). Over the years, we have honed our
- quality control and manufacturing capabilities by making modems
- for Apple, Commodore, Zenith, Kaypro and Grid. This is reflected
- in our own Courier and Sportster products. For three out of four
- years, we have made the INC. 500 list of fastest growing private
- firms.
- I know you have a modem choice. As you will discover, the
- difference between vendors is partially technological — Data
- Communications magazine rated our Courier HST as the #1 high-
- speed modem (April 1988). Part of it is the way the vendor
- relates to its customers. USR was ranked as the #1 overall
- performing modem vendor by modem users surveyed by Datapro
- Research (October 1988).
- We are proud of our accomplishments and of the service we
- provide to our customers. Thank you for considering U.S. Robotics
- products. I believe we have much to offer, and we look forward to
- satisfying your data communications needs.
-
- Sincerely yours,
-
